Kona Grill: Patio Dining at its Best

14 Aug

If you are looking for an everyday escape, you’ll find it at Kona Grill. Enjoy a unique combination of inspired American flavors and a full sushi bar with fresh fish and seafood prepared by chef Zach and Takeshi.

The outdoor dining at Kona Grill delivers a nice restaurant ambiance – modern, chic, and clean cut – yet makes that very cozy and interesting at-home feel of your own patio. Complete with a glass covered fireplace for chilly nights and LCD screens so you can watch sports while drinking 2-dollar beers during happy hour.  The food ranges from 5-dollar happy hour munchies, to 50-dollar specialty entrees.

You can go for the buttery and delicious Sea Bass or the Pan Seared Ahi Tuna, but whatever you do, make sure to try their Macadamia Nut Chicken – a signature specialty that has people talking.

Drink Tea in Style

04 Mar

Designer Soon Mo Kang reinvents the packaging of tea around mini clothes. These Hanger Tea-Shirts by Soon Mo Kang are tea bags that are shaped like T-shirts with a hanger that hangs on the tea cup. Each tea type is highlighted in a different color for ease of tracking.

I’m an avid tea-drinker and couldn’t go on a day without it.  This clever and creative tea packaging makes me want to toss my boring ol’ teabags  from the supermarket and start drinking tea in style.

Peep: A Svelte Thai Joint in the Heart of Soho

10 Feb

Every hipster should check out this cozy and svelte Thai joint in the heart of Soho. The hip interiors give you that chic, trendy feel and the loud lounge music makes eating Asian fusion food a lot sexier. It may not be the ideal place for a conversation, but definitely the place for eating, staring at each other while enjoying a drink. The bathroom may come a bit of a surprise and could make you a “little uncomfortable”, but I won’t give it away. (hint: “Peep”)

Brasserie Les Halles: Home-base of Chef Anthony Bourdain

15 Jan

Brasserie Les Halles is the home base of Chef-at-large Anthony Bourdain, author of the best selling Kitchen Confidential (Bloomsbury, May 2000) and host of the Travel Channel’s No Reservations. Took my friend, Lalaine, here during her visit in New York City because she’s a big fan. Tony is also the co-author of the Brasserie Les Halles Cookbook (Bloomsbury, 2004) with proprietor Philippe Lajaunie.

The food in this place is top chef quality but would not cost you a fortune. I would definitely go back.
